Default Differences between Comp and a Modified engines

I was curious if there are any major differences between Comp Eliminator Engines and Super Stock modified engines. I would assume there are some longevity things you could do to modified engines to extend they're life and limit damage on parts by putting some beefier valvetrain parts in the modified engine vs a comp motor that lives on the edge. I would also assume most guys would run less rpm as well. Anyway just curious, thanks!

Horsepower and cost. When I went from SS/A to SS/AM I bought a 2 year old B/ED motor and qualified # 6 at the Nationals in Houston the first time out with a new car, one dominator and a manually shifted 4 speed. I could have run 2 dominators and a 5 speed. I later paid over 4 times what I gave for that motor (a 360) for a bleeding edge 347 comp motor to run C/A. Both motors crossed the stripe at 9,300. No problems or failures with either one.
