318-2bbl
Is the 1970 era 318 engine capable of 300 hp to run in stock? 238 hp hits the index. Anyone run one now or in the past? Thanks

Re: 318-2bbl
We have run it........Absolutely no success for us
at all. I doubt you will get 250+ HP (Sorry). The 318/340/360 Thermoquads are all potential Rocket ships!

Re: 318-2bbl
Several have been run and they do well against the index. Check Nitro Joe's data for some information. If you are looking for a rocket ship like a 302 Ford, a 318 ain't it.

Re: 318-2bbl
Bogner went over a second under in R. That's probably not a Dime Rocket but it shows the potential's there.

Re: 318-2bbl
Beginning to think not a good option. Guess I'll stick with the 340.

Re: 318-2bbl
It all depends on the price of poker. 318 will cost a bunch less than a 340 to do and with a 318 you won't have to worry about as many potential heads-up runs. D-E-F-G with a 340, you had better have a good one. P-Q-R with a 318, you can do a .5 under car and be fairly safe.

Re: 318-2bbl
318 with a Thermoquad will also make a great L-M or N car, not too much chance for heads ups and can build one for not a ton of money like stated before. Stick one in a volare or Aspen

Re: 318-2bbl
Got me thinking again looking at the classification guide. A question, for the GT class engines (say a 1988 318-4) is that a S/S engine setup only?

Re: 318-2bbl
'71 318 with Rochester 2g in an A body is a good combo , also '68 only in a Dart....
