Thanks Trevor. I was pretty sure about those numbers, and the last #3 denoted a manual trans, where I am confused is the 4th "3" is supposed to indicate a 1973 model year, yet 703 (the first 3 #'s) refer to a late 1960's carb with A.I.R. ? Thanks, J.R.

Can't be a 3...almost has to be an 8 for 1968
Is the number in a circle tag or vertical on left rear barrel ?

Mark, it's on the left rear, no tag. Thanks, J.R.

Are you sure you aren't looking at the bowl casting # which is located on the left rear of the float bowl in a circle? I've gone through all my books and there isn't a carb with that #. Unless it's a Marine Quadrajet or a service replacement, it doesn't follow conventional Quadrajet de-coding for automotive applications. The actual carburetor # is vertically stamped on the float bowl just above the secondary throttle shaft kick lever on the linkage side.
