Default 85 firebird brakes

I'm changing my brakes on my 85 firebird to manual brakes from power. Does the proportioning valve have to be changed also? thanks in advance Tim.

There is no "proportioning valve" in your 85 Firebird. What you are seeing is a "check" valve that will flip one way or the other if your front or rear brakes fail. Leave it there. Make sure that you get your pedal ratio close to correct!

actually, it's called a combination valve and it does both...
but no, you don't have to change it (unless you're changing the rears to disc)

I have a Ed Quay master cyl, I sent the pedal to them to do the fab work on the pedal so I'm pretty sure that is correct. the problem I'm having is after I pump up the brake's and let them go it seem's to be sucking air back thru the plastic valve and putting air in the back resivoir.the rear brake's are aerospace disc but they were on the car when the power booster was on it and they worked great.
