Default Wheel Question

I currently have Weld Prostars 15X3 1/2 on the front. I can get a set of American Racing Trakstars at a great price BUT they are 15X4. I run Moroso DS-2 tires. 1/2 isn't much but everyone runs 3 1/2's. There must be a reason. Thanks.

Ed the only reason I see is the 3 1/2 is a few bucks cheaper.

Have you sen those 1/3 page ads in ND for Billet Specialty wheels priced @ $800 for a set of four? I think they look really sharp. A little heavier than the ultra liteweight wheels but a good trade off for the price. I couldn't find a picture of a TrakStar. Also, I notice M/T wheels now are 5 lug pattern on the front wheels instead of that uni-10 lug pattern. Looks more like a Weld Forged racing now. I'm going to check into a pair of fronts for my car.
And I can't imagine there's a problem w/ 4" wheels other than some extra weight. Just make sure the offset isn't a problem or you might be trimming your fenders for clearance.

Jeff;
Are you talking about the BS "Street Lite" wheels like on this car?

Yes, that's the one. I've never seen them on a car before. I like! I did see the ad in the current ND. They advertise them for $850 a set of four, not $800.

Jeff is the ad in ND direct from Billet or ???. Summit wants around 950.00 for all four. The rears weigh 18lbs and the fronts are about 10. im not sure what the difference would be from the Prostars. Thanks for the info. Im putting a new fuel system in the car now and getting the Jerico fixed. How's yours?

Yes, it's abillet ad and they say "starting at $850" so who knows where it ends. I also saw a new ad for M/T and the front wheel appeared to be a normal 5 lug not the uni-lug 10 bolt pattern. I love those Weld Forged wheels but as I have Monocoque's up front can't see spending $900+ on two wheels just because I like the look.
My car is out of the "pencil" stage and now it's time to start fabricating. I have yet to get chassis work (or engine or paint) done in a reasonable time with any shop. So I'm just used to this waiting around.
