Watching on NHRAtv, the view from the top end camera makes it appear that the cars coming around in front of the tower are coming over a crest as they roll into the water box. The wall in front of the grandstand also appears to increase in height going downtrack. Just curious if it's an illusion or my old eyes are fooling me.

Yes the track does have a downhill angle to it and the burnouts you do go uphill. I can't remember to % but, I think it's 3% downhill

I live here in Concord and watched the track being built. The stands rise up and out as you go down track for a better view for those sitting in the stands.

I don’t know where but I know I read it somewhere it was downhill a certain percentage

Bruton Smith checked with NHRA as to the maximum allowable 'downhill' grade they allowed, and the track was built to that specification.
