Default wheelie bar length

was wondering how much wheelie bar length matters i recently purchased a set of used wheelie bars for my 66 chevy 2 wagon After i got them home and visually placed them under the car they seem to be under the car more than i thought they would They measure around 42 inches Was asking it was okay for them to be under the car like that or do they need to be longer I think the rules state max 48 inches in length or to bumper whichever is greater?

J,
Are you saying that 42" bars do not reach the back bumper? If so how long would the bars be to reach the back bumper? Ray

Get the appropriate length wheelie bars that fit within the rules.
The longer the better; so it will be better if they reach the bumper.

Ray
It’s about 46 1/2 inches from center of axle to my rear bumper and also on the wheelie bars I bought it’s 39 inches from the end of the leaf style lower plate to the center of the wheelie bar wheel

J,
If you plan on hitting the wheelie bars on a normal run I agree with the others above. The longer the wheelie bar is the less force is available to lift (unload) the rear tires. So if you plan on hitting the wheelie bars really hard this becomes even more important. Unloading the rear tires in a wheelie gets you an appointment with "Mr Wall". Ray
