Default SS/VX bumper rule?

The rule book appears to require bumpers for SS/VX cars, but I've never seen bumpers on one. Am I missing something?

And stock classes have to sit "level", too. The book states "required" for bumpers on VWs. If you have a book tech and no bumper, you don't run. A VW bumper is not a 50 lb. hulk like a Biscayne. Build with it on and keep it in the rig. Bolt it on if needed.

I would say that if Mr.VW Steve Tims doesn't need bumpers, then you don't either.
The best way to learn about this stuff is to get out to the races and talk to the guys in your class.

BTW, These are the guys that lobbied for the class and submitted the rules proposals.

We are not talking about VW cars in Stock Eliminator.

This class is a descendant from the old Modified Production Gas and Modified Compact Class and rules. None of those cars ran bumpers on those days and when they did, all they had were Nerf Bars. Aftermarket companies also sold inserts to cover the slots too.

Just let them keep the old school look.

Yes.

I raced a C/MC type car...right after NHRA killed Modified Eliminator...

Not questioning accepted field practices, just noting that the book states bumper are required. The book needs to be updated.
These guys run SS/VX in our neck of the woods.

Yes, I met Doug Colley at the Northwest Nationals two years ago. He and I were living not too far from each other at the time. Nice guy.
