I got my October newsletter from Rockauto.com today. Looks like Cardone is making new aluminum brake drums for older GM vehicles!
Part numbers are 2C18000 and 2C18001 in the Rockauto catalog. These are brand new parts, so no need to go scrounging through the recycling yard! http://www.rockauto.com/en/parts/car...8000,drum,1744 http://www.rockauto.com/en/parts/car...8001,drum,1744

They also have slotted /drilled rotors for the older vehicles. If your still running stock brakes it might be a good thing. I wonder if they are lighter than a conventional rotor??

I bought a pair when they first came out from Kirban Performance/ Mike's Montes. They are a really nice piece. Worth the money.

I run those drums on both my cars. I was able to cut 2lbs of weight out of each drum.

I would be very careful running aluminum brake drums. I put a set on my car probably 15 years ago. I close friend that worked in a muffler shop told me they were noted for cracking on daily drivers and told me to keep a close eye on them. I pulled them off after attending a couple of races and both drums had cracks in the inner iron sleeve. You have an iron inner sleeve and aluminum outer, two metals with very different rates of expansion. I know of a fellow racer here in Div. 3 that had one shatter and put his car in the sand trap.
