Model 64253 is a digital 6AL in black, Rod. You might want to re-check the wiring for the box, as the low side limiter is only active when the light-blue wire (I think) has 12 volts applied to it. The high-side should work anytime the unit has battery power and an ignition pulse. I've never had a reason to check whether or not the unit got "hot", but I'm sure it does get "warm" in operation. Do you have a temperature gun you can check it with?
Just for the record, I've been running a Digital 6AL for a while with no issues whatsoever. And other than the dial adjustment being a pain in the neck (literally!), I have no complaints at all. Lew

I had a customer with a digital 6AL that ran "hot" - you could almost burn your hand on it !! Returned it and got another, it is normal, almost no heat at all.
