My car runs D/SA and E/SA mid 10s. It has a Roll Cage installed. A roll Cage for my car is not Mandatory. Rules State a Window net is Mandatory for any car requiring a roll cage. My interpretation is since my car is not required to have a roll cage I am also not required to have a window net on my cage .
Am I getting this correct ? Thanks Don Turk |

I ran my caged C/SA Camaro without a net. In fact, even when I had a Super Stock car that could run SS/JA, I left the net out. In SS/IA, I put it in. Never had a problem with tech although, tech has changed somewhat over the years. I interpreted the rule in the same way you have. Good luck, c

You do not need to have one.
You can put one in if you like. If you have one in there 99% of the time they will force you to put it up even if you are no required to have one because they don't want it flopping around inside the car. That is the reason I designed mine differently than most. I can mount mine to my swing out bar so it is not lose when I am not dialing in the 9's and not required to use it, but still don't need to remove it from the car. |

I rolled a car years ago in a very violent crash to say the least, the only thing left of the car was the roll age and me strapped in with the window net-----DO YOU REALLY WANT YOUR ARM FLOPPING AROUND WHEN THE CAR ROLLS ??? IF YOU HAVE A PLACE TO MOUNT A WINDOW DO THE SMART THING AND GET IT RULE BOOK OR NOT.

I have had a CM Cage in my E/SA/SS/JA for well over 20 years and have
never ran a Net. Several Tech Inspector have said if Cage is NOT required in the car.......a Net is not needed!

Correct John. The wording in the rulebook does confuse some people though. I've had "discussions" with NHRA tech officials over the issue before.
If you have a window net in the car it MUST be securely attached though. For most cars, this does require it to be put in place. I set mine up so it can be securely mounted either up where it belongs on a sub 10 second run, or down on my swingout bar where it is safely out of the way and not loose in the car. |
