it's places like that who give the wrecker services a bad name.in Louisiana you can't charge like that we are regulated by the Louisiana public service commission.

Same thing by me in Jersey i have 8 towns of duty wrecker, all of them have charges set through town ordinance. That s how it is in most states. Search the town or highway and look at rates and charges for that ordinance .

^^^^ If you do go in that business, Irvin Johns' business would be a good one to copy. His company and people are first rate.

Is the tow bill just for the recovery and tow? We had a situation back here where a rig went over a hill and crashed. After removal of the rig they had to have equipment brought in to remove soil where contaminated, replace the soil and seed and plant grass. I'm sure the cost to dispose of the "BAD " soil was not cheap. I'd ask for a breakdown of charges to better understand the bill. By the way the bill for the one I spoke of was a little over 60K.
The owner of the rig had minimum insurance and the tow company got 10K for everything. |

I handle claims on our self insured rental car fleet all over the US and Florida is probably the worse for towing that I have ever seen and it's getting worse especially around the Miami area. I've seen all kinds of charges I have never seen before. Bad thing is there are all operating within state statutes and not anything you can really do about it but pay up and move on.

No cleanup except dishes and glasses. No diesel, oil, or anything else. I have it arranged to get my race cars, personal stuff, parts etc and once I am out of the way, then the insurance companies involved will handle it. Holding my personal stuff hostage is against Florida and I'm sure most state laws. We have big wreckers, equipment trailers etc, but mostly use it for our stuff and our fleet. Irvin guided me through the thing, and it's abusive at best. More later when my property is back in Louisiana.
