Default Gas ported pistons for SS

What is the consensus for gas porting on pistons, for SS? I have been told we can gas port the top of the piston, is this correct? In stock we used ring spacers that were gas ported as that was legal.

Thanks
Sean

I was told it was legal as well. I'd get it in writing if it is not written in the rule book.

Dave, we were told not (2012?) long ago that vertical gas porting was not allowed, but lateral or horizontal was allowed. But then I think I was told in 2014 vertical gas porting was allowed.

Thank you for the replies, I was told by a SS engine builder that it was allowed just recently. So I thought I would ask others.

Dave thank you for your help on the clarification.

Thanks
Sean
