Been the cheapest so far. Had one in monte carlo for 700. and it was a non posi and I had to remove from car. I can get a Moser 12 housing for that. Vegas is 5 hours from me and I located one for 500.00. Seems to be the going price out here in the southwest.

Cool Re: Chrome 12 bolt housing?

Not sure if a 12 bolt is really necessary in a U car. An 8.5" ten bolt with axles, web caps and a spool would probably be 90% as strong as the 12 bolt, and probably a bit lighter besides. Ever pick up a 12 bolt posi unit? If it's a G body, some of the Monte Carlo's and Malibus had them, and the Buick Gran Nationals. They might be getting rare by now,as well. If you get the 12 bolt, assuming it's an A body unit, QA-1 has upper trailing arms made to facilitate the swap pretty easily.Good luck on your project!

I picked up a complete 12 bolt Mark Williams kit with spool 33 spline axles, studs all new bearings, seals, shims, ring gear new for $600 off craigslist. It was such a deal that's why I went with looking for 12 bolt housing. I felt the 8.5 would have worked but didn't have anything to use at the time. Thanks for the tip on the QA1 upper arms.

Greg, This is a 4200 wagon with a 307 motor..It just may need more than a 5.57 gear ratio in Phoenix, Vegas, etc.

I think you're right. The 12 bolt does have a pretty wide gear selection.
