Default SBC stocker headers????

Hey guys... Its time for a new set of headers for my stocker (sbc 70 chevelle). Ive had hooker super comps for years but just wondering if there is anything better off the shelf.

Im open to any advice on the size of tubes also. Current was 1 3/4" with a 3 inch collector.

Has anybody tried the Dynotech muscle maxx headers?

Thanks,

I just ordered Hedman Huslers for my 69. Very well made, much better than the hookers, They have three catalog primary sizes, 1.75, 1.75/1.875, and 1.875. I special ordered 1.625/1.75 for my application (255hp 350)

Talking Re: SBC stocker headers????

Chipper- if you havnt gotten your headers yet, call and make certain you get the ones that clear number five plug. First set I got from them I had to take back twice. They had changed that tube because of the newer small plugs. They said they were going to make a new part number. Better to check now then have to send them back. Phillip Wigington is who you need to talk to.

I had two sets of those. Number 5 spark plug was impossible with both sets.

We ordered from Phil, he knew exactly wht we were needing and when we specified size he even knew it was for a 255hp stocker without being told! Excellent guy to deal with. We were actually sent wrong size by wholesaler first, but they were brand new and looked like they would clear all plugs great. I havent actually laid eyes on the step headers yet due to working away, but if they are anything like the straight 1.75 65213 I was sent they should be good. I'll post back with findings and pictures.

Installed my headers today, engine in car, pass side dropped down through with no issues with collector and starter off, driver side went up through with little effort, and napa 1060 oil filter in place. Plug clearance on my 441's is excellent. One of the nicest headers I've ever worked around. Far better than the old davis headers they replaced!
