Question Class Runoffs - How do they work?

I am new here and from Australia, so I may need educating about NHRA style drag racing.
Australian drag racing hasn't held class runoffs since the 1970s.

Q1.) Regarding Class Runoffs held at Indy and a couple of other Nationals, how are the runoffs held?
Are they held within the Eliminator qualifying or are they held separately?

Q2.) If there is a class with only one entrant, is he/she still considered the class champion?

Q3.) Super Stock & Stock have Class Runoffs, what about Competition Eliminator?

Regards from OzzyMike

There are usually 1 or 2 qualifying sessions for Stock Eliminator and Super Stock, then class eliminations begin.

If there is only one car in a class, that car goes into a "combo" with all other cars in that eliminator that are the only car in their individual class, and they run off of their index. The car that wins that is the "combo" champion.

Comp runs off the index in regular eliminations, so there's no need for them to run class eliminations.

1) Class is separate from the regular eliminator. All the cars in the same class race each other and are laddered (if there are six K/SA cars, 1 vs 4 winner gets the bye next round, 2 vs 5 winner races 3 vs 6 winner in round 2). First round of Class counts as the final qualifying effort for the 'main event'. Rounds 2 and on do not count for qualifying.

2). No. Used to be that way. Now, all cars who are lone entrants run each other. Handicapped off the Class Index, first to the finish line wins. Also laddered.

3). Comp does not run Class. They did at the first Northern SPORTSnationals in Columbus and almost all Class finals were bye runs, very few heads-up Class runs.
