Default oil filter base question

I am assembling an aluminum block brodix big block. (I know this is not stock or super stock but you guys have great knowledge). I need to get a spin on filter base. what should I use? I was looking at CVS-OFA65 - CVR Spin-On Filter Mounts. is this what I need, and what about the bypass, should race engines always have that blocked? or any better suggestions? thanks, keith

Default Re: oil filter base question

Several companies have replacement oil filter bases that are billet alum.,I never have had one of the GM cast ones fail, but billet ones are probaly good ideal and not bad cost,I need to order some instead of digging out GM cleaning it up and plugging bypass.
I always plug the bypass (racing)does'nt take much pressure to open it,and have some unfiltered oil
I know Canton,Moroso also have them
