Simple Newbie 2 step ???

I have been reading old threads, and I am wondering, on a 2step, can't I just wire the low rpm side into a simple pushbutton mounted in the brake pedal, off to the left side? Then when I footbrake I release it the same time as the brake pedal, and when I stop normally I shouldn't touch it. The car is auto and no line loc.

I hope that you aren't trying to 2-step a carbureted, turbo V6. That could get ugly.

So, you're saying I should not mess with the 2step? I only considered it since it came with the MSD box I bought. Guess I can ebay it and put that back into the pot!

What would it do to the turbo/motor? I'm curious what kind of bullet I'm dodging by not using it?

Well somebody please correct me if I'm wrong but the carbureted Buick turbos were a "blow through" setup were they not? That means that you're pushing boost through the carb and into the intake. That would mean that the carb and the intake are wet with fuel all of the time. Even with the 2-step, the engine should be able to build boost and even if it can't, it would be really loaded with unburned fuel. I wouldn't want that to go "pop".

The Buicks "draw through" the carb. You actually need the 2 step so you can hold the brakes and build boost on the line.

Its actually a "draw through" whereas the fuel is pulled into the intake. The carb mounts to the left of the turbo intake on a plenum and draws over to the intake. Will it still be the same problem?

No ,they're draw through. The carb is just in a funny place !
The two step is okay with the pedal switch but here's the problem:
As the boost climbs, so does the stall speed. It will eventually level off with a 2 step, but with every snap ,crackle and pop, it will still climb.
You've got to be ready for a quick tree, so, seeing you'll leave first 95 % of the time anyway, as soon as you see 4 stage bulbs, you need to go to the floor as quick as you can.
Better chance you'll be maxed out with boost...If not...you had a bad day!

You are exactly right. I had a bad day racing Billy at Indy a few years ago with the Capri.
