Default ring & pinion prep?

I picked up a new gear for my C5 that I'll install this winter in preparation to run Pure Stock next year. Many Corvette guys buy micropolished gears but this one is not done already. Where can I get it done or is there a better "treatment" to do before installation? Also, is it worth the time and effort or just install it as is?

Jim Bailey use to own "Finished", which did cryo & micro-polishing/surface treatment, but he sold it to someone out west. I believe there are benefits to it if it's done right. The Mopar 8 3/4 gears I run need to be watched so every little bit helps.

The guy who sets up my differentials had me bring the R&P in to set up, THEN sent it off to have it treated because the polishing makes it more difficult to "read" the pattern while setting it up.

Couldn't hurt to de-burr the edges of the teeth lightly with a sandpaper roll to eliiminate any sharp edges either way.

As Is , is lumpy.

Get a large lathe file (single cut fine) and draw file the flange face of the crown gear to get the lumps/burrs off around the bolt holes. Use the same file to go over the spool flange to get the lumps off there.
