Default Fuel Check with fuel injection.

Now if I decide to upgrade my car to true stocker status at a later date. I will have to do this. It's easy to set up a check valve with a carb equipped stocker. How do you do it with a fuel injected car.

This engine has a fuel regulator mounted onto the end of the fuel rail. Can you tap into that and put a check valve in before the regulator?

Here's a picture of the engine. Open to ideas and suggestions.

Just undo a line from the fuel rail and put on one of these. Be sure an hold the cup tight.

My cheap-azzed way was to plumb in a lawn mower fuel tank valve from NAPA and a weather proof starter button that grounds the fuel pump relay when pressed. Both front/left side under the hood. Open the valve, press the button & fuel flows. You can spend more on nice valves. I rigged my deal up before I saw the fancy stuff. Mine works just as well. I don't have a show car anyway.

i hooked mine up to the schrader valve where you hook up the pressure gauge. jegs has a nice adaptor. it comes with their fuel pressure gauge for a 5.0 mustang.

Most of the Quads didn't have a pressure tap. If it does then get the adapter. If not I've drilled and tapped the fuel rail for 1/8 NPT then install any type valve. I'd like to give a big old thank you to GM for not providing a fuel pressure tap on alot of their engines since that's the first thing I check on a driveability issue. Joe

I have the press and pull fitting on my fuel rail. I just take the line off and I have a remote start panel in the engine compartment.
It's worked for 6 years so far.

The older EFI cars usually have 2 fuel lines - supply (high pressure ~40-50psi) and return (low pressure only a couple psi). I just plumbed a regular pull-valve (from Moroso I think?) into the return line. I take fuel with the engine running. No spewing.

Be careful with that Rob, your not suppose to have a car running unless someone is in the drivers seat.

I carry a line from a set of A/C gauges in the trunk. Same fitting as the schrader and has a shut off valve. Hook it up just for fuel check.

Thanks for the replys. I'm certainly a ways off from needing it yet. Just planning ahead.

Joe,

Your suggestion probably is best. There really is no way to hook to the regulator. I'll probably just search around and find another fuel rail and drill and tap it, add a valve. Problem solved.
