I have noticed that with my car, if I run quite a ways off the index (say 4 to 5 tenths), the ratio required is quite different to get on the index than what is required for a run that is pretty close ( a few hundredths). Any comments/similar findings??

I would venture a guess that your stop RPM is creeping up when you are on the slow side and more stable when your on the quick side. that RPM creep will change your ratios. You will need to make sure you have the same stop RPM no matter what altitude you run at. I know in Div 5 that means constant adjustment for each track and conditions. getting a handle on that portion has helped my program in the past.

Thanks for the input Henry, and I think that you're probably right--up until recently I was shifting out of low gear AFTER coming off the stop, and I imagine that would contribute to having a RPM creep problem. I learn a little more each year about this class, but still haven't learned enough! What's new with you--looks like you're running a Super Stocker these past couple seasons??

Yeah, the superstock car is a blast to drive. love doing those wheelstands. it is so smooth. Superstock racing is the complete oposite of super class racing. In superstock, the car launches hard through the first part of the track and levels off at the end. in super class racing the first part of the track is slow(due to throttle stopping) and the back half comes on strong. I am contemplating bringing out the superstreet car again and maybe run both. of you need help looking at your data or ratios. come find me in the pits and i will help with what i can.
