1970...York Dragway. The first NHRA SummerNationals
Empi Inch Pincher VW Bug I think it was...........Ran as a gasser ? Might have had a chopped top.....can't recall.... He was given an award on the starting line. Maybe best engineered or something like that. After receiving the award the driver who's name escapes me.....walked to the back of the car and removed the exhaust "stinger" as they were called.....Got in it and proceeded to make a run and did a huge wheelie with that exhaust pipe no longer sticking out the back...........The crowd loved it......me too....
