Dennis, despite hearing from people at NHRA, and from other reliable people who spoke with NHRA personnel, that a clarification would be issued imminently, no such clarification has been issued. I would have thought, from what I was told, that the clarification would have been issued last Friday.
A quick check of the "approved products list" shows no new category for rocker arms, and a check of the NHRA updates shows no rule clarifications regarding rocker arms for Stock Eliminator. I have heard various things from various people, NHRA personnel and reliable sources, but since nothing has been written, I'm not going to provide any grist for the rumor mill.

Dennis: I just e-mailed NHRA again, and I'm waiting on reply. I specifically asked if those rockers that you speak of would be legal. At this time of year, we may not hear anything until after the new year.

As a side note, I spoke directly with several rocker arm manufacturers at the PRI and IMIS trade shows. Not one of them was willing to proceed on any special rocker arms for Stock Eliminator, nor were they willing to offer any of their products for sale as being NHRA accepted, until such time as NHRA issued a clarification in writing.

Is it just me or what, as of what has been written as of now the only roller rockers legal are OEM ones. The new rules that came out seem to just say aftermarket stock style ones. I am I not reading this write.

This is what Mike Crutchfield sent out as part of the SRAC update....
".....The Stocker Rocker arm rule is still one of the hot topics and what will be legal and how are they going to check for stock ratio. It is still not very clear yet but it appears that you can replace the stock unit with a aftermarket unit that attaches the same as the stock one. In other words if it is on a stud you can put a aftermarket back on the stud. No head machining for other configuration shafts or whatever. As far as checking in appears they might check at the push rod and again at the valve. One official said he will only check at the valve but that is not the rule so be prepared to check both...." Hope those who lobbied for this change are happy....reminds me of the old adage "be careful what you hope for, you might get it". IMHO they should have left as is, spent a lot of money getting to a stock rocker arm configuration that would work well and I'm sticking with it.

From Pat Cvengros, National Technical Services Representative (paired with Bruce Bachelder), I was told the roller rocker must be affixed as OEM application; i.e., stud remains stud, shaft remains shaft.
I also spoke to a higher up with Comp Cams and was told that those asking to improve the roller rocker rule with a change in mounting configuration, stud girdles, etc., where dreaming and that's what NHRA has expressed. Seriously, some ask for an inch and want a mile! Personally, I was elated to hear the news and made the decision to go back to Stock from Superstock. I've already bought Comp Ultra-Pro Magnum stainless rockers which I received a discount on. If anybody wants to, keep your stamped rockers in place as nobody is mandating aftermarket usage. There are those that don't even have to buy aftermarket roller rockers because they have been running them for years. I guess now they can sleep better at night when on the NHRA tour. And now I will have rockers that are as good or better than the AFTERMARKET Mopar and FE rockers that those brands have benefited from for years. Make that decades for some. Cry all you want but every one of you have been beat by those running aftermarket rocker arms. The playing field just became level in the valve-train department.
