If you want a lightweight 12-volt, I've had very good luck with Braille.

Optima red top ...Not as light as the Braile ,but
great for cars that spend long periods of time between being driven. not good without an alternator, longer charge recovery time than Yellow top

X2. I've had an Optima yellow top in my car for over five years. It's heavier than I'd like ,but always recharges quickly (no alternator) and it will start the car without assistance after sitting for months at a time.

Optima batteries are the way to go. Yellow tops are the best forracing whether you have an alternator or not. When you charge them they are sensetive to a higher voltage charge, they don't like seeing over a 14.7V. You can put 200 amp. thru won't hurt them at all but high voltage will. Battery tender 5amp is all you need. If you need to charge quicker just watch the charge voltage. I work for the company that owns Optima.

I found this on yellowbullit has anyone tried one yet.
Default Dyna Batt Review I just wanted to give my opinion on the dry mini battery, I call it, from Performance Distributors. They are the guys that make the DUI line of HEI stuff and wires. They are local to us here in Memphis, so I stopped by and picked one up. They only weight about 12 lbs and they have a couple of different terminal configurations. I installed one a couple of races ago along with a 105 amp alternator (a higher amp alternator would be nice). So far, it has been great. It starts the car fine and runs my fuel injection/nitrous solenoids/ fuel pumps, ignition just fine. I'm sure the car basically runs off the alterantor when it's running though. I usually hook up my charger between rounds because I have 2 dc bottle heaters I use in the car and they will kill pretty much any battery. I had the relay that goes to the bottle heaters weld the contacts together and it was on for quite a while before I found it. Amazingly my burst disk didn't blow. It completely drained the battery and I thought I was done for the day, but I put my charger on it and in 30-45 minutes it was topped of and started the car. I was amazed! I just thought I would give my opinion/review of these little batteries. http://www.performancedistributors.com/batteries.htm

I have one of those and I never had any problems with it.I only use it once in awhile if I am trying to get weight out of the car.For everyday round robin bracket racing, its hard to beat an Optima battery. |
