how often you run, what fuel you run, the type of oil you run, whether you run a vacuum pump or not, are just a few of the factors that influence how often your oil should be changed. But the number 1 factor in determining how often your oil should be changed is your conclusion based on the opinions of others that you have read or been told.

For me, 40 passes running Mobil 1 5W-30 in my 900+HP BBC running on gas.

I use red line 20w race oil and a half bottle of red line break in additive. I change the oil filter (K&N) every couple races but the actual oil I change roughly 20-25 runs. It's been metal free and pretty clean every time.

LOL

I change it when I feel like spending another 80-85 $$ for an oil change.

Exclamation Re: redline oil

Please dont shoot the messenger. Theoretically synthetic oil doesnt wear out. It just fills up with contaminants. Therefore, if it doesnt wear out and contaminants determine when to change. So each car will be different. The more blow-by, quicker the change and so with other contaminants. They make a small inexpensive test kit to check you own oil for "additives". Would that not be the smart thing to do instead of guessing and spending $100 when you really dont know. Also a plus side of this is knowing what you are adding to the oil. It will let you know what shape the engine is in. If the oil changes, then the engine is changing.
Just saying
