Default Rear gear opinion

I've been using Richmond pro gears and I'm due to put in a new set. I've got about 800 runs on the current set. A friend suggested that I might not really need the 9310's and I'd like to hear your experiences, especially if you've run something similar to this.

4.88 12 bolt, foot brake T-400, 2800lbs running high 9's with 1.36-1.40 60's.

My question is why would you even listen to anybody else? You have a proven part and I wouldn't change a thing!

The guy that did the current rear doesn't think Richmond gears are as good as they used to be and that's what started the discussion. So I thought I'd see if I was in the overkill area.

he doesn't think the pro gears are as good as they used to be and wants you to replace them with a lesser quality gear.

I agree with the others, you've put 800 runs on these gears.

Nuff said!

I've talked to a few gear guys and the consensus is that the newer Richmonds are not the same as the older ones, specifically the heat treat.
So, I'm looking for a set of pro 4.88 US Gear. They're not easy to find, at least not for me. I called Tom's, Randy's, Strange and Moser. I finally called US Gear, and they're supposed to call me tomorrow with some info.

don't rely on internet hearsay/rumor as gospel nor those that sell and make more $ off of a competitors brand.

I'm sure Mark Williams Enterprises http://www.markwilliams.com/ringpin.aspx would disagree with these "gear guys" you have spoken too as well as some prominent car builders and many, many class racers, bracket racers and heads up racers.

All I know for certain is that I've 60 footed a best of 1.17 with my 3124 lb. ride with Richmond Pro Gears purchased in 2009 that now have over 400 passes on them and when the time comes, they'll be replaced with the same Richmond Pro Gears.
