Default ADRL Bigfoot pic from dragrace central

Did anyone else see the picture of Bigfoot from an ADRL race that was posted on the dragracecentral.com site? Is this just another step toward making drag racing only a "show"? I know that Feld/IHRA is doing that, and although I have never been to one of their events, I thought that the ADRL been to one of probably has some of the best side by side drag racing going right now. Do they too have to resort to bringing in Bigfoot to entertain the crowd?

I personally don't feel that a monster truck belongs on a dragstrip unless is it sand, dirt, or mud. I saw one of the original Bigfoots in 1979 (when it was still a Ford truck!) at the dirt drags in Fairmont, WV. I don't care to see and certainly don't want to pay to see a tube chassis monster truck on an asphalt dragstrip!

Yeah but kids do....and with targeted marketing, kids can persuade their dad to take them to see Bigfoot anytime, anywhere.

Just looked at the pic...isn't even Ford Blue...what kind of heresy is that?

As for marketing to kids, this is just part of the whole transformation thing we're seeing, including the new iron.

Its for downtime, which at a Pro Drag Race their is alot of. I think it was Royce at MIR that had a stunt motorcycle team that would do tricks during downtime of events. In Grudge Racing we use to say "Get in where you fit in" well guys its changing and you better figure out where you fit in.

Growing up around Great Lakes Dragaway in WI, "Broadway" Bob used to pack the house by supplementing the drag racing action with things like monster trucks, jet cars, jet cars tied up to school buses by a chain and roasting them, wet t-shirt contests, etc etc. It was a lot of fun to go with my dad and it's what got me into drag racing as a kid! I think the idea of bring a monster truck out to the drag races will be cool to watch and can only bring more people into the events.

grudge racing is a joke, except for the track owner and promoter. I wouldn't get in the other lane next to most of those cars. around here its rusted out piles of crap that wouldn't pass tech for sportman ET with a 540bbc and 3 stages of gas. Then you throw in the crowd it attracts and you need to have armed gaurds. SO i would not even bring up a comparison to grudge racing at all.

X 2 and if you want to watch a monster truck flip over backwards how about going to a monster truck show to watch it and leave the drag racing class cars alone. The Fuel and alcohol cars f##k up the race track enough on their own.
