I need to move some blocks, heads, and misc. other parts to cold storage. This is VERY COLD storage as in Saskatchewan winters. What works best for you? I once had some spray stuff that had a reddish color to it that worked very well, I applied it probably more than 10 years ago and those blocks still look like the day it was applied. For the life of me I can't recall what this stuff was. Must be that old timers syndrome. Doug Domm

Doug,
Not sure exactly what you are looking for... as for grease, I have found that motorcycle chain lube works very well. Is made to cling, and not sling off... this keeps if from running and dripping off as bad. Comes in aerosol cans... spray it on, and wipe on as needed, wrap and store. If you are looking more to a paint, then Glyptol (spelling?) paint works great. It is usually a dark red - primer red color. Used in the electric motor field. Lots of people use it to paint the inside of blocks, etc. Good luck, Ken |

I'm thinking more in the way of an oil or grease product to protect machined surfaces that can be washed off later so the blocks and heads can be painted after assembly.

Doug, I know what you are talking about, but can't think of the name. I've seen people spray it on bumpers and aluminum wheels during the winter. I will find out what it is.

We used to use a product called "Ruslick" however our lubricant supplier discontinued it due to it's contents.
We now use a product called "Anticort" SV95 X 5 gallon pail. by Fuchs Lubricants 17050 Lathrop Ave Harvey ILL 60426 USA (708) 333-8900 www.Fuchs.com |
