Default crate motor carb spacer and water pump ?'s

Looking at a few updates on my zz4 crate motor... Christmas presents, right!

How about the HVH super sucker spacer? Rules let you run a 1" spacer on crate motors. Is this the best option? I do not have anything on it now. Anybody have one they want to get rid of cheap?

What is minimum space between hood and carb needed for good air flow? This is on a 67 Firebird.

What about electric water pumps. Have an old Moroso, and time to update. Been waiting on contingenicy list to come out, but not sure if there will be anyone on it or not... Anything anyone says to stay away from? Are there any of the lower priced electric units that work well?

thanks all.

Found some HP with the super sucker but without the dyno sheets infront of me I couldnt tell you how much. Obviously CSR or Meziere are the best and well known water pumps but I have had a Proform on my car for 3 years and it wasn't brand new when I got it and its never let me down. I should be buying a new one this year and placing that one on the spare parts bin though. I left it on for 24+ hours and it didnt completely kill the battery and didnt get all that hot. Hood clearance...mine is tight....little better with an SS hood but you dont have that option with a firebird. I couldnt run a spacer with a super vic and a stock flat hood. There is ways around that with different GM engine to frame mounts. 69 SS 350 mounts seem to be the best for hood clearance problems

For a WP, look at the Dedenbear unit. Don't know the part # off the top of my head but, it's supposed to be the lightest unit available. Word of warning, "it ain't cheap"! It's in the $300+ range.
