BBC Alternator install?????

I have a 1970 Chevelle with a 502 BBC with Brodix BBX heads..It has a CSI electric water pump, manual steering gearbox...At this time there is no pulleys on the motor..What I am trying to do is run a 100 amp alternator on it...I want to order every thing I need but when I call the two major catalog company and received two different answers.. I need Crankshaft pulley,belt,alternator and brackets..Would appreciate the help...Can't seem to get an answer......

Some time back, I bought everything I needed from East Coast Auto Electric.. they provided the alternator, crank pulley, belt, mounting bracket, and even the wire to go from the front of the car to the batteries in the back.. took me about 30 minutes to install everything.. if you have a copy of National Dragster, they usually advertise in there.. they also run an Alcohol Funny Car and are usually at all the D1 races.. I believe they are out of New York State, so directory assistance may help you out..

And not to mention, I've had their alternator on my car for about 10 years without a problem.. I'm replacing it with a new one this year only because I've changed everything else on the car this year.. kinda feelin' bad for it.. LOL

We have a 1966 Chevelle with a 1/4" motor plate. We used the ECAE alternator (#2025), Moroso alternator mount (#63833), Aerospace Components drive (#AC-MS-BBC) and a Carquest belt (#RBR-7320). I cut the drive shorter to make room for the fan shroud. It is a tight fit, but all works great and looks nice too!

I ran into some funky clearance issues mounting an alternator on my Vega sbc/motor plate.Even though our cars have nothing in common,what I did would work for pretty much everybody w/ a common sbc/bbc setup.I used a new GM crank pulley for an 88-96 or so 5.7 tbi motor.It uses a 6 rib serpentine belt.I made up a large reinforcing washer out of 1/4" plate,that has the 4 crank bolt holes in it.I used a late model 92-93 Grand am/Firebird small-case alternator,and fabricated a simple fixed arm/adjustable arm mount system for the alt.It is actually facing the motor,but attached to the frame,not the motor/motor plate.The reverse alternator direction does not affect charging,or alternator heat buildup.It idles at 14.8 volts,and has been run repeatedly up to 7300 rpm.Its cheap,strong,and fairly easy to accomplish if you have a welder and a little skill.Let me know and I'll email you some pics if you want to go this route.-Lew (trikbag4066@yahoo.com)
