Default Whats a chiller worth?

Whats a chiller worth? Not how much does it cost but what is it worth ET wise? I see lots of comp and SS racers have the quick attachments installed on their race cars, but have yet to see the cooler in action or the results! The manufactures have no data.....they just say "it has to make your car faster"! I'm not interested in spending money on the "trick of the week" however if it's worth some ET I'll find the money. Simple test. Run your GT/AA right off the trailer 3 runs in a row without stopping to cool it down between runs. By the time it's 220 degrees it should slow down considerably, right?
Now take it to the cool down area at your track. Run clean / cool water through the system, get it down to 50 degrees if you can. Then make a run. Is it faster?
That's your answer. No opinions, no claims, no money out of pocket, just see for yourself.
These chillers will get your engine water temp down to around 50 degrees quickly. Without a chiller, the ambient temperature may keep you from getting below 80-90 on some days (I live in AZ). You can make one out of an ice chest on the cheap. On a professional looking level, the one offered by Advanced Clutches is around $700. The most expensive I've seen are close to $1500.
That's quite a spread and I can't imagine one does a better job than the other.
You'll also save battery drain as you wont have to run your electric water pump and electric fan trying to cool down between rounds. I think we've all lost a round because your battery was lower than you thought.

It works...I have seen temperatures as low as 33 degrees. I think there is at least 5 hundredths in doing this, maybe more (depends on the type of combination of course)

I've seen .05 with my NMCA Mean Street combination. I bought the cooler valves on ebay and used a sump pump to circulate the water in a cooler. But definitely, buy stock in an ice company.

Some of the guys with converted coolers spent more than $100.00 on ice for the week at the Nat's but they really cool down the motor.

I have to wonder, are the ring end gaps and the piston to wall changed for this setup to maximize its potential? Obviously, the block is warmer than that when honing and file fitting rings.....

Take a look at racingjunk.com under Stock and Super/Stock. I think one may have been used while setting the GT/FA record at Englishtown this weekend
