Default 2nd Gen Camaro Stocker - Rear Spoiler yes or no?

Is it beneficial to leave the rear spoiler off my 77 Camaro stocker? Or does it help these cars?

Thanks in advance. Chris

Here's my two cents. IF the car could be ordered without the spoiler, in other words, the spoiler is an option. You can remove it. If it's a particular model that the spoiler was a part of the trim package, that would be the model. I would say no, if your claiming the car as that model. A plain jane Camaro would be clean. An SS, RS, Z-28 all had trim packages that identified those models. It all depends on what those packages contained, how were they optioned?

Another factor might be which HRA you intend to run the car in. I'm not picking on one over the other, if you read this board. It appears that there are combinations in both organizations that skirt the issue of legality. Go to the track, you'll see stockers claimed as different years, hoods, trim, tail lights, all kinds of things that weren't offered. As it has been brought up numerous times, many tech people today, don't really know what was and wasn't offered on many cars.

If it were me. Unless you just enjoy the look of the spoiler. If I wasn't "required" to keep it on the car. Anything like that, is just wind drag, read that as lost time. I'd remove it.
