Question for the blue oval gang. Is it advisable to fill a 5.0 roller block for cylinder stability at .060 over? Gathering info and parts for a fresh bullet.
Thanks in advance. |

Charlie,
I would recommend filling the block. The last one I bored .060" only had about .075" of cylinder wall left. This is easy to measure after you drop a valve. thanks, Roland |

Charlie, my machinest says the 5.0 Ford blocks are fairly weak in the cylinder wall department, so he even Hard Blocked my engine, even at only .030".

The org. Boss 302 blocks will go .060 or if you are brave .080 over ask Fadely or Mike Edwards

I fill everything .030 & up. even if you do a "short fill" that will help.

Buy the sportsman or svo block, you'll be much happier in the end.

Does that BOSS block accept stock style heads(windsor, gt40, etc.), or does it take a Cleveland Style head?
I wouldn't worry about a stock block at 30 over. I've heard when you start getting over 7000 rpm is where you have trouble, and the block will split. -nothing related to the overbores.
