I'm looking for suggestions on a P/G transmission and converter for my 283 single 4-B. The car fits in SS/LA and/or GT/KA. The car is a 60 Corvette with a 10.5 X 30 tire(photos on my profile). I want to race S/S but will also footbrake bracket race for seat time. I am on the fence trans brake/no brake, just want reliability, repeatability. Do I need the Super Case? I already have the TCI mid mount with flex-plate shield in place. What low gear set is reccomended? What Converter 7", 8"? I know there are particulars and more information is needed for maximum effectiveness. I was just wondering what the 283 guys are using ATI, TCI, Rossler, Hughes, Pro Trans Select etc? I'm listening fellas! I live in Budds Creek......an hour and a half from ATI. Thanks, Wade

8 ATI works but not as fast as 7 inch A-1 2.18 low gear in heavy car light car like 60 vett u could run les first gear the that stock case works just fine put trany shield in it if u going to trans brake it just to be safe u can buy them a swap meets for $20 out dated but u dont need it to be dated in those class and the new rule u can run any Gm 3 speed call A-1 i think best for 283

Wade don't be surprised if you do not get many reply's, most of these guy's once they get their combo sorted out like to keep their set up to themselves. I however seem to always be trying to sort out my combo so here goes. I run a 65 Chevelle 283/220 in SSMA, carb is a 4GC, with the glide and your tires, I run 5.87 gear, 208 first and 7inch 6000+ stall convertor, Frank Lupo can set you up with both for a good price. This combo depending on how much hp you make and the air will be .8 - .95 under. If you want to be fast get a 3 speed (Turbo or Metric) 2.75 low, 7 inch convertor 7000 stall. In both cases you will want a brake, leaving higher, go faster. Of course there are alot more factors to add in, I hope this will start you down the right path, if you find something that is real fast let me know. Good luck call me on my cell if you want to discuss further.

Why would you waste your money on a PG when NHRA gave you such a gift on a metric trans? I hear they are worth about two tenths over the best PG set up.
Better yet put a stick in that 'Vette!
