Question Ihra stock fwd classes...

i can't find my ihra rulebook. can somebody, anybody email me or post here the weight breaks for ihra fwd stock classes and indexes. i know their different than nhra. i want to race with the ssssa so bad, and if i can at least get my 86 olds delta 88 with 3.8 motor to run the index, i'm going to race. nhra class df/s index 15.90 1/4, 9.86 1/8. no way car will do that, at least 1/4. i have run car in 1/8 at 9.70's with short belt and 22" tall tires on 14" rims. if i remember old nhra fwd classes it would fit e or f, can't remember which, but i think e was 16.45 or close to that. car to weight nhra around 3000, actual is 3185 with no gutting. car is my daily driver but i would not be afraid of putting on new heads. i think with a good set of heads, short tire with lightweight wheels and a short belt and electric water pump, i could at least run the ihra index. car is fairly consistent, and as long as i can cut some lights, i can go some rounds. help me out guys. FWD STOCKERS RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rick.

just went to ihra site, e is 15.90, 9.85, f 16.30, 9.95. all automatic class. man thats fast, car ran 16.80's 1/4. got my work cut out for me. i want to keep it streetable. i'm not against doing a cam swap, but i don't want it too radical. i just want a index car, just intill s10 is running. rick.

The IHRA rulebook can be viewed online. Stock rules and classes start on page 54. (Enter 56 for the page in the top window to go to stock)

Thumbs up Re: Ihra stock fwd classes...

fred, thanks, that site helps alot! did not know that was there. mike, thanks, i needed that too. cool car, alwaysed loved those olds. so if i read it correctly, i can run f with more weight. i did weigh car couple of years ago, 3185 with 1/4 tank of gas with no spare or jack, without me in the car. if car weighs 3200 i can run it as ihra ff/sa. good heads, short tire with lightweight wheels, electric water pump, and maybe a cam, i can at least run the 16.30 index. mike, our cars are similair as far as weight and motor goes, what have you done to your olds. i don't need every little detail, and i know a higher ratio final drive will make a world of difference, are you at 430 lift? nothing is done to mine as far as performance other than no cat. i still need this to be streetable, still have all power options and air and i still will have all these on car no matter what. ed, turbo car is out of the question. i know a turbo fwd car can run the index, but this is just to tide me over until s10 is finished. i enjoy going to the races and hanging out and helping anybody that needs help, but i want to be "in the beams" so to speak. don't know if i will have everything done to it by reynolds, but i'm going to try. even though new ssssa rule is no protesting, i don't think i can tell jim car is ihra gf/sa, and get away with it. rick.

Rick I might have a set of 20" tall 8 inch wide slicks, mounted on 6 inch wide American racing rims 5 x 100 mm bolt circle, for sale. You can try them if you want at the Valdosta race (if I get my transback together). I'm going to a larger gear so I'll be using 22's or 23's.

Hi Rick. Yes, a car that is a natural E car can run D and F legally. Is your Olds similar to the Stephenson family's car? It's killer fast, holds the DF/S NHRA record at 14.72. Pics can be found at http://www.autoimagery.com/store/cgi...ole+Stephenson
Mine is a .422 cam. I bought my car from Tom Kasch in Ohio in 2006 (Stephenson's Olds is a former Kasch car as well). It's a neat car, power everything, even seats. All leather interior and a sunroof to boot. Both the car and myself need to go on a diet (myself more so LOL), as it weighs about 3500 pounds, a hundred over the DF/S-EF/SA minimum weight.

hey mike. funny you mention stephanie, i have a black and white picture of her car hanging in my living room. actually i have a bunch of stockers black and white pictures in frames hanging on my walls. copied all from here and put them at different sizes in 2' by 4' frames. everybody likes the look, says it gives them the feeling of being in a photo gallery. 3500? i would think thats with you in it. if i'm not mistaking yours is an "e" trans, right? mines not and nobody makes a aftermarket computer to retro into my car. i have been told that trans is to have to change final drive. i think mine can too, but nobody can give me the answer yes or no. plus yours has the short deck block, i think. all i want to do is run the index and race with the ssssa. have a great fourth guys and gals. rick.

Yes, about 3475-3500 with me in it. Minimum weight for EF/SA and DF/S are 3400. Yes, mine has the e-shift, '92 3.8 231/170-170 motor. Hope you have fun with your project. As long as it runs the Index you'll be good to go and have affordable Class Racing fun
