I have a couple of minor leaks in 2 spring pockets and wondered if anyone can recommend something to pour in the waterjackets that will help seal it. New heads are not an option right now, but is there anything that can work?
thank you Jeff |

I have used liquied glass many a time and it works well and lasted the last half of a season (50plus runs).

Jeff,
Go down to the local craft store and get Envirotex. It is the 2 part epoxy they use to pour bar tops. I just fixed my heads that had the same problem. I welded the crack in the spring pocket. Then I cleaned the water jacket using Castrol Purple cleaner. Let that dry real good. I force dried the head with a small heater. Then turn the head over and pour the epoxy into the water jacket. I had to put some tape over the water inlet on the manifold side to keep the epoxy from running out. When you get the head in the right position you should see the epoxy starting to come out where the crack is located. I let the epoxy cure for a week before starting the engine. No water in the oil at all.

Thanks fellas. I was also recommended this stuff from Casewell that sounds similar to what you are describing. Just hope to get it sealed up enough to last me 75 runs or so.
thanks again! |
