The '66 Chevelle is on the track, small block version, but always curious how the '65 Chevelle with the 396 ci big block would do, especially with a stick in it. That would be an interesting ride...

I didn't think enough 65 Chevelles were made with a big block to be in stock, or do those rules still apply. I haven't raced in Stock for years. But your right Don it would be an interesting ride. My old 283 Chevelle wagon with a 4 speed was ten times more fun than my 8 sec dragster is to drive.

201 65 Chevelles were made with the 396/375, problem is they were hydraulic cammed motors rated the same as the solid motor

I saw a 396 65 Chevelle Stocker at Gainesville a couple of years ago. I guy with his son were changing the ring and pinion in the dark with their pick up truck lights shing on the back of the car. It was a Blue 65 in C stick .it wasn't terribly quick and had a ton of clutch in it. It was pretty cool and had a very very nice rollcage. I wish I could remember the guy's name. I don't think that it would be a real good combo. Cool, but difficult. I give them an A for Effort.
Here is the guy (from DRC) 2396 C/S Sonny Dunton, Ft. Myers FL, '65 Chevelle 11.628 11.65 -0.022

i also have a chevelle stocker, but am rather new to this game. i have been .7 under on an aborted pass as my quickest run. 67 chevelle H/CM (ihra) 12.00 index ran 11.30 @ 103, ready to try this weekend again if all this darn rain would pass!
