Default Burette's

Not sure if everyone knows, but you have to be careful when measuring your port and chambers volumes because most burette's will not read the same.
The standard for a class A burette is 1% and a class B burette is 2%. I have checked many and found them to be as much as 1 1/2 cc's different on a 100 cc's. I checked two of NHRA's and they were 0.8 cc's different on a 100 cc's.
This is quite alot on a port volume and depending on which one is picked up may allow you to be legal or maybe not.
So make sure you have a safety margin and don't cut it too close.
Thanks

That's asinine, that they would manufacture a volume checking device and condone that sort of inaccuracy. All they have to do to refine the accuracy is to move the markings on the tube.... jeesh...

Thanks a lot for posting this. I'll check out which "class" mine falls into.

Exclamation Re: Burette's

the main difference between a A & B burette is how fine a measurement you want!!!! A class A takes the measurement out to .05 whereas a class B only goes to .10------ sorta like a vernier giving you a reading in .001 and the other one can give you a reading of .0001---- OK------Comp 387

Thanks for clearing that up; that makes a lot more sense.
