I plan to run stock and want to learn the ways of the QJet using my bracket car. But I can't get the engine to run below 1500 rpm's with the Q-Jet. spec. on engine, 350, 10.5 cr, 510 mech. cam, heads ported 461's -194/150, HEI, had a Holley 3310 and ran well.

Was your carburetor built by someone who specializes in Q-Jet performance builds? If not you may want to consider sending it to one of a handful of guys that really know their stuff about Q-Jets. If you have a race prepped Q-Jet, the first place I would look to solve the high idle problem is look for vacuum leaks.

On another note, if your cylinder heads are ported, they are illegal to run in stock eliminator.

I have used Danny Ashley with very good results. The Q-Jet requires special prep with idle and off idle fuel, Danny knows what to do. Also, talk with Danny about "no rod jetting" Most racers run without primary metering rods. When you arrive at the correct set up for your engine, the idle will be good and the throttle response will be instant.

How much fuel pressure?
You might need to drill some holes through the primary butterflies to clean up the idle.
