Default Late model camaro-firebird---modified intake issue

A difficult or sometime considered impossible issue with 1993 and newer camaro-firebirds is the inability to run a holley equipped modified, sheet metal intake style engine because of the engine position under the windshield-cowl. The carburator location ( height) cannot be acheived for peak performance. Has anyone had any practical experience with any custom intakes or spacers to make this style motor work in these cars successfully ????
