Question: I'm looking for a helicoil to repair a holley squirter hole in the venturi hsg. That has stripped out, i believe the threads are 12-28. I remember a few months back this was a subject and there was someone who had a source but i'm unable to locate the previous thread. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I don't recall if anyone had any other options, but there can't be many. Even IF you could find the correct thread heli-coil, inserting it will block off the 2 slots that actually channel the fuel up to the squirter nozzles. The only solution I found was to insert a heli-coil close to what you need and force-thread a hollow screw into it. If it's close, the threads should conform. This way you still have the hollow hole in the screw to channel the fuel. But if you need some of the bigger squirters, just having the hollow screw may cause a restriction. Holley recommends the hollow screw with the OEM channels when going over a certain size squirter.

Myron is correct. We fix a lot of them at work in the carb shop. The closest Heli-coil is 12-24, you have to use it and run the hollow screw. The hollow screw takes up the difference in the mismatch of the threads, also if you go over a .035 squirter you need to run the hollow screw. The channel in the body there is only about .070 which is why you need to use the hollow screw.

Do they do any blow-thru forced-induction application carbs at AED? Thanks for any info... Bill

I repaired an original DZ carb ('68 Z28) a while back that had the same problem.
I milled (not drilled) out the theads, made a bushing that was .002 larger in diameter than the milled hole, cut two slots in the bushing to match the fuel channels, threaded the i.d. of the bushing and then pressed the bushing into place with a tiny bit of JB Weld on the bushing opposite the fuel channel slots. The .002 over diameter made for a nice snug fit. I believe I used a .250 end mill so the bushing wall thickness would be adequate to not crumple when I pressed it in. The result was nice, clean repair and the carb appears unaltered and works well. If you have access to a mill and lathe, this is a good way to go. I repaired my holley with a 12-24 helicoil insert and a stainless 12-24 countersunk machine screw that I drilled out to allow unrestricted fuel flow through the nozzles. The countersunk machine screw seals off just fine with the factory holley gaskets. It worked out so good I did both squirters. Never had a problem again.

Bill, yes we offer blow through carbs and forced induction carbs. Give John in the carb shop a call on monday at 804-271-6076 just hit extension 12 (which is me) and i can get him to the phone. Thanks, Duane
