Have any of you racers lost any weight redoing your car, goin from Sq tubing to Round Tubing? How much weight did you lose? Is there any weight reduction at all goin from Sq tubing to Round tubeing? Also I would like to why there is a weight reduction if this is true? thanks classracer

Unless you are going to go from mild steel to chromemoly tubing the weight savings will be extremly small. ............When you go to CM tubing the wall thickness can be slightly smaller on the box tube, depending on the chassis spec you are building to. ........058" box vs. .083" for tube.......I'm assuming you are more concernad with the tail section of the chassis,and not the frame connector area. ......Every builder has a preference ,altho some cars lend themselves more to one or the other. .....If I can find it I'll post a link to a site that has charts with all the weights per foot of various size tubing. .......TOM
