Using Weld Draglites on my stocker in progress. Installed a set of 3" studs in the hubs, attempted to mount the wheel and found that it take 1/2" spacer to clear the wheel from the very fat OEM caliper. This will not work as now I do not have enough thread engagement in the lug nut. I guess I will be looking at new aftermarket billet thin body calipers. On many of the Mustangs websites, there is talk of grinding the caliper body and using spacers, not my cup of tea. Anyone out there have or had this problem??

I run a 91 Mustang, and alot of the guys around here were using the 94-94 spindles and brakes on the fox cars had similar issues. I used a SVO 5 lug setup on mine, with the stock 91 GT caliper, had no issues clearing the caliper at all. I have also read of people hacing to space out the fronts using Aerospace and Wilwood front brakes, may want to look into that a little more before you spend the $$$ for the same issue.

Also, you can buy a replacement race caliper from The Brake Man: http://thebrakeman.com/home You can also try to get the PBR calipers and brackets from a 1999 or later Mustang in the wrecking yard. The PBR caliper is a 4 piston caliper and the body that faces the wheel is smaller. |
