Generator Advice
Hi Guys,
I'm new here as you can tell. I need advice on purchasing a generator for the track. I've been looking at the Craftsman portable generators, and I'd like to get some feedback on anyone who has used one. I'd also like to get recommendations on what size (output) I should get. Thanks in advance Bill |

Re: Generator Advice
Bill
First thing i had a Craftsman generator and they are loud. Look for anything with a Decibel level of about 50-75 I got mine from Duropower.com I have a 3500 watt electric start and it was only $459.00 shipped to my house in IL. I run my battery charger, laptop, lights and it will run a small a/c or heater Size all depends on what you are powering up. Hope this helps

Re: Generator Advice
I love the Honda's as well, but you guys know I'm on a budget. I just bought a weather station (Alta Com II)and Crew Chief Pro. Now I'm broke. So I'm going to have to use my Sears card to get the generator. Poverty sucks!

Re: Generator Advice
Since you already bucked-up on the good Weather Station and the killer software program, you really don't want to cheap out and buy a generator without an inverter in it to run your electronics with. The "Pure Sine-Wave" or "clean" power the inverter produces is equivalent to your utility company's house current whereas most of the lower-priced models out there produce a "modified" or "square" sine-wave power that in some cases can cause interference issues with TV's, printers, etc. I run my whole deal with my Honda EU2000i (no A/C or heat though), and it runs pretty much all day on a tank of fuel and is super-quiet. I shopped mine pretty hard beforehand and bought it from Wise Equipment out around Chicago. Hope that helps....
