I'm now in the market to buy headers for my A/SA ZL-1, all input will be appreciated. Now convince me with facts on what type header you'all think is the best for this combo. I have talked to Jere Stahl,Jack Davis, Mark at Perfprmance welding, Dawsons Headers,ETC. Most everybody tells you what they will sell you and the price with no info as to why they think it's the way to go ,except Stahl he said he has tried and tested,( his customers have dyno'ed and gave him the results) most fadd combo's 1 step, 2 steps, stainless non-stainless,tri-y's,merge or not ? ? ? straight up hookers coated cost 1100.00 to as high as 3000.00 is this really neccessary ? Over the years I have tried many differint header combo's pipe size seems to be the most important factor all the other is just romance bull, but I am open for some proof that spending 3000.00 is cost effective for the performance gain inplied. thanks Doug

You might try giving Don Kromer @ Kromerkraft a call. He has done quite a few headers for all types of racing. His work is flawless and he also can do computer modeling if I'm not mistaken as to the correct dimensions you will need.Does merge collectors ,reversion tubes, etc---all the tricks too.Prices are fair and he will work with you not just try to sell you something and then fade away. We have the Stahl headers on the Camaro. I've talked to Jere at length, and I do mean at length. His headers work, period. And the fit is second to none. They ARE better than the Hooker headers we have, even with the Performance Welding merge collectors. Make sure you test fit Jere's headers BEFORE you coat them, as he WILL NOT wrok on them if they are coated, you'll have to send them to be stripped and THEN send them to Jere. Jere's paint hold up really well, by the way.
Through the "grapevine", best I can tell almost all of the fast cars run Stahl, and you can't beat Jere's performance guarantee. Saturday, during qualifying for Top Stock, I swapped a full set of spark plugs in about 15 minutes. You can work around the Stalh headers with ease. When I buy headers for the Chevelle, they'll be Stahl headers, you can bet on that. Alan Roehrich Bring "AA" classes to NHRA Stock Eliminator!
