Default What will happen on Tuesday?

What happens when 2 cars with the same combo get an instant factor at the same race?

I don't know about that. But I bet there will be allot of "deal making" in the background when two of these cars have to run each other. I mean a coin toss to see who wins the rd then they both go out there and tank to try and lower the average? Or, does this not matter at all after the 1.20+ under runs? Just asking.

Like when two drivers run the same car and it goes -1.3 one weekend and -.358 the next?
From the numbers posted if this was run at a fast track many of these combos might have factored themselves out of Stock or not at less than 4,000 lbs.

This is not to single out Jeff Teuton and his combo, but rather a look at the stupidity of NHRA and how they assigned the start up HP to ALL off the Factory Race cars.

360 Engine = 275HP / 275 NHRA HP = 11.64 lb/hp = Natural H/SA
360 Engine = 275HP/275 NHRA HP = 11.00 lb/hp + 170# = G/SA = 3195# = 10.629 ET

360 Engine with 3.25% added = 284 NHRA HP = 11.27 lb/hp = Natural G/SA
360 Engine = 275HP/284 NHRA HP = 10.5 lb/hp + 170# = F/SA = 3152# = ????? ET

360 Engine with 3.25% added = 294 NHRA HP = 10.88 lb/hp = Natural F/SA
360 Engine = 275HP/294 NHRA HP = 10.0 lb/hp + 170# = E/SA = 3110# = ????? ET

So let me see if I have this right........

Add Horsepower move up a class, take out weight, go faster.

This could go on for years...

Is this a great plan or what...

Bob

Angry Re: What will happen on Tuesday?

This is why these car will take a lifetime to correct, this is nothing like the GM FI. cars of the 90's, yes they were fast but it took more than 10 years of R&D to get them there. Some of these new cars have very little R&D and could probly run 3 tens faster if A they ran them all out or blue printed the engine. SO to anyone comparing this new breed of stockers to the first generation, YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW OUT OF LINE THESE CARS ARE.

Unhappy Re: What will happen on Tuesday?

I believe this is the beginning of the end for class racing.I like new cars and old cars however on a level playing field. The demise of class racing will be from within.Older guys will loose interest because they don't have a chance to compete with $150,000 stockers and take up golf and bass fishing.Their are not alot of young people in class racing unless second generation drivers.New to the sport cannot justify the cost to shoe polish race with such intense rules. If you tell a guy at your local track the new dragpacks are $150,000 10 second bracket cars they look at you like you have 2 heads. In todays economy and with other classes of racing to choose from, class racing is becoming a dinasaur. If you have a tailgate and a big wallet it is easy to compete. Not trying to pi$$ on anybodies cornflakes just an observation, look at the posts lately on this site alone.A big check book bought the top qualifying spots.

What SHOULD happen is 3.25% adjustment 5 times bringing them to 372HP which is still a ways off, but would be a good start. 372HP would make them natural A cars with a weight of 3145. Then they would just take some weight out to get to 3145 and work on getting more e.t. out of the cars. Not exactly sure, but I am thinking that this is the first time more than one competitor with the same combination has triggered instant HP.

Now for what will happen. 3.25% will be 11HP, and NHRA may realize that they are a little bit to fast so let's just throw about 20HP on them instead of just 11. This will slow them down to only running 10.20s in D in bad air.

Who will be first in the 9's in E/SA

What a plan.....

Bob

PS: This is INDY in the summer, look at your weather stations, so how about with some good air. I can see 9.90's at 134 in E/SA....

With Indy weather 131.36 MPH should be close to 10.05 ET.
1320/131.36=10.04 ET.
9's at a sea level track should be a breeze.
