Has anyone tried an independent rear suspension in a corvette then changed to a 12 bolt? If so is there any ET difference?

We run the IRS, toms stuff. I think there is something there as there is some drag you can't get rid of within the rules go stock eliminator

I run the autofab 4 link set up in my 80 vette. Set up works great. It definetly will be faster with the solid rear over the IRS set up. Much less rolling resistance.

Thats a nice looking setup under your Vette but a 4-link with coilovers is not legal for stock.

It's a mixed bag. Some guys have success with the straight axle conversion while others just create problems.

I was just answering the OP's question. Would a 12 bolt be faster that an IRS? Yes is the answer. I have no clue about rules for stock or super stock. You have a lot of frictional loss with all those u joints with the IRS. I think I picked up almost 3 mph going to the 12 bolt. Try pushing a vette, they dont like to roll easy.

We run the IRS in our SB Stocker 78 Vette. I really think its better than a solid. Every winter it comes out and gets freshened. 3600lb plus and 1.46 60ft in I. Big thing is a good align and bottom rod set.
