Best flowing?
Flowmaster 40's? Hookers? dynomax ultra welded? Currently I have dynomax street legal mufflers on the car. For a 70-71 challenger 383 car that might be too slow for Stock eliminator in the NHRA and has everything else that pure stock requires....ie stock valve springs, stock 4 wheel drums and with a cam change, a fuel pump, water pump would be good to go!

I have TTI 1 5/8"/1 3/4" step headers with their 3" X-pipe and Dynomax Ultraflo mufflers ending at the rear end housing on my car. Every indication was that I picked up ET with the combo, especially after removing the extra 60 lbs from elsewhere in the car to get back down to minimum and playing with the jetting. I might try their bullet-style in the future. But I'm not sure exactly what is legal for Pure Stock without looking it up.
This is going from open header with collector extensions which I ran for a couple of years before adding the exhaust system. *** Oops! Just got home and looked up the rules - no straight-through mufflers in Pure Stock. But the X-pipe should be worth looking into. Last edited by Myron Piatek; 09-14-2010 at 04:00 PM. |

I once did a back to back comparison between Flowmasters and open headers on a D/PS Camaro.
It slowed .02, but we did not adjust the weight- it crossed the scales 20 lbs heavier, so it looks like a wash.
