I upgraded the front shocks on my stock suspension, small tire '79 Malibu to the Afco BNC double adjustable out front. I'm working on dialing in the settings and am getting closer.
What surprises me is how stiff or firm the front end needs to be to keep the front end down to a reasonable level. I currently have the compression set at max 24 clicks. On rebound I started at 10 clicks, then moved to 12, then 14, now sitting at 16 clicks from full soft. I really think the front end could use another 2 or 4 clicks, or take another 1/2" or so of travel out. Full extension travel is 5 1/2" at the spindle centerline, currently limited 1" down to 4 1/2" net travel. How tight are some of you faster Stockers or Super stockers going on rebound setting??? Car as mentioned is a '79 malibu, GM triangulated 4 link coil spring car, 3400 lbs w/driver, mid 9's @ 140, 60's in the high 1.2x to low 1.3x range footbraking. thanks Todd Geisler Sample image of the launch from this past weekend. My goal is to be able to eventually take the wheelie bars off once I get a firm handle on the front end tuneup. http://trsphoto.exposuremanager.com/...ami/dsc_482648 http://trsphoto.exposuremanager.com/...ami/dsr_781647 http://trsphoto.exposuremanager.com/...ami/dsr_792313 Last edited by Todd Geisler; 04-24-2008 at 06:14 PM. |
