Now I know that both of those guys are capable of swapping a set of heads or a motor but I think that somebody in the Tech Dept. should at least wander over and pull off a valve cover and check some casting #s. We're not only talking about a World Champ on the line here but more importantly to many Racers we're talking about combo averages.

Just an FYI NHRA, if it's a 350/300, he's got the wrong hood on the car. ;-)
The 350/300 being at 307 now (with help from Joe S.) is a natural E car. He had the flat hood on the car all last year, which is fine for the. 350/250 and 350/255, but he did run a few races claiming a 350/300, but the car still retained the flat hood. It would have been nice for someone to take a look at that, especially because he is one of the reasons that combo got hit after last year. The good thing is none of the 350/300 cylinder heads have the same markings on the front as the 441 head on the 255, so all you would have to do is peek under the hood to figure out which cylinder head is on it.

Do you have to run the cowl hood w/ 350/300 ? I recall the debacle when some were running that hood on lower hp combos, didn't know you couldn't run higher hp combo with flat hood.

350/300 was base engine in SS Camaro. It should have either a cowl or a SS hood.

The ZL-2 hood was an option. Even the majority of the Z-28s built didn't get one. So I'm sure that the same applies for a 350/300. It would be interesting to see how many of those cars got the cowl hood. I have read that total ZL-2 production was around 10,000. That includes COPO, Z-28, and SS. Maybe someone with more knowledge can chime in?

ZL-2 was a SS option but no SS would have had a flat hood. However, a Z-28 wasn't a SS and if it didn't have the ZL-2 option then it would have had a flat hood.
FYI, the ZL-2 option wasn't available until Jan.1, 1969.
